Homestead Law - Clark County
www.clarkcountynv.gov/assessor/services/pages/Homestead.aspx May 14, 2020 · When you record a Declaration of Homestead, Nevada law protects a set amount of equity in your home established per NRS 115, from general creditor claims (unpaid medical bills, bankruptcy, charge card debts, business/personal loans, accidents) but would not preclude a seizure or forced sale of your residence from general creditors if your equity exceeds the maximum equity allowed.
It has only taken me 5 years to do this and I did this today-homesteaded my home. It took me 3 different departments to go through to do this, but the total time was only about 15 minutes. No one in line, no waiting. If you have any things that need to be done with Clark County government, I would recommend doing it now, while they are so slow.
