Day 3-Sitka

Sitka,AK is settled on Baranof Island’s west shore located on the outer coast of Alaska’s inside passage. It is the heart of the Russian influence in Southeast Alaska. it is the heart of the Russian influence in Southeast Alaska In town, the well preserved picturesque remnants of Sitka’s Russian heritage is one of the main attractions for tourists. With the magnificent My. Edgecumbe, an extinct volcano with a graceful core,forest and islands and snowcapped mountains Sitka is a beautiful backdrop for any Alaskan adventure.

I learned about totem poles and their history at the Sitka historical Museum .

and somewhere in here I have a video literally of the salmon spawning upstream but for some reason I am unable to pull it up at this point and I will keep trying to put it in here . in the meanwhile this is the pictorial history of the salmon and how long it lasts and everything you need to know about it .

and part of our tour was also seeing the cultural dancing of our native Americans from Sitka. .
